THE ONE ANOTHERS

“All I need is God.” “I don’t need church or small groups to connect with God.” “I love Jesus, I just don’t need other Christians.” Are these statements true? Check out this 8-session Study to find out what the Bible teaches about the importance of “one anothers” in your life.

SESSION 1: INTRODUCTION

Why study the “one another” passages? This Session will provide a foundation for study and encourages us to see community as an essential element of the gospel.

SESSION 2: OVERFLOW OF LOVE

We will discover how the relationship of Father, Son and Holy Spirit is both the source and example of “one anothering.”

SESSION 3: LOVE ONE ANOTHER

Is there a single One Another that frames our understanding of the rest? This Session will define love in Biblical terms and reveal the relationship of Jesus’ command to “love one another” with the others found in Scripture.

Step 4: HOMEWORK (Optional) – Read Chapter 1 of Loving God’s Way and discuss the questions at the end of that chapter (p. 19). Memorize John 13:34-35

SESSION 4: HOSPITALITY & “ACCEPT ONE ANOTHER”

There are many different “real time” definitions of what it means to be hospitable. This Session will attempt to highlight the gospel-centered nature of authentic hospitality.

Step 4: Memorize 1 Peter 4:8-11 and Romans 15:7

SESSION 5: ADMONISH & ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER

This Session will help establish a perspective of how God uses both admonishing and encouraging in a complimentary way to build Christ-centered relationships.

SESSION 6: CONFESS YOUR SINS TO ONE ANOTHER

Confession of sins to others can be frightening. Here we’ll discuss the real nature and purpose of confession as it pertains to speaking God’s truth into life situations.

SESSION 7: FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER

How are God’s forgiveness and my forgiving others related? In this Session, we will discuss how God uses forgiveness to bring freedom to relationships.

SESSION 8: THE FRUIT OF ONE ANOTHER’S

What are the One Another’s actually producing? In our final Session, we’ll examine the scriptures for an answer that invites you to explore opportunities for further study and application.

Step 5: POST-STUDY WORK(Optional) – [Only engage this step if you completed the Step 4: Optional or For Credit section in Session 1]: Read 1 Corinthians 12 together. Talk through how your new knowledge of the One Anothers has altered your understanding of what Paul teaches here.
